Details

This book provides a comprehensive examination of how microbial metabolism influences infection, virulence, immune evasion, and antibiotic resistance. Edited by Dr. Vijay Soni and Dr. Aditya Upadhyay, this volume curates and distills cutting-edge research from multi-omics studies, computational modeling, and systems biology to provide readers with a clear and structured understanding of the metabolic dimensions of bacterial pathogenesis. Covering topics from nutrient acquisition, metabolic signaling, and immunometabolism to antimicrobial resistance and novel therapeutic strategies, the book bridges basic microbiology and clinical relevance. Designed for microbiologists, clinicians, students, and interdisciplinary researchers, it serves as both a reference and a practical guide for those seeking to connect metabolism with infection biology. By integrating experimental insights with computational frameworks, this work equips readers with knowledge to identify new biomarkers, therapeutic targets, and intervention strategies, ultimately offering fresh perspectives for tackling infectious diseases in the era of rising antimicrobial resistance.

A Machine-Generated Literature Overview of the metabolism of bacterial infections An experimental collaboration between machine generated, editor curated content A cutting edge overview of the role of metabolism in bacterial pathogenesis

Autorentext

Vijay Soni is an Instructor of Microbiology in Medicine, with a research focus in microbial metabolomics and biological mechanisms of antimicrobial agents and resistance at Weill Cornell Medical College. He completed his PhD jointly from the National Institute of Immunology and Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani, Hyderabad, India. Dr. Soni has co-authored numerous articles in journals such as PNAS, Nature Microbiology, and mBio. He has also authored several book chapters, co-edited two books, and is currently co-editing a volume on antimicrobial resistance and systems biology.
