Metrology: Support for Quality in Healthcare

Metrology has developed according to the needs of society. The knowledge about its application is fundamental in the practice of all professions with scientific substrate. The paper aims to show the presence of the science of measurements in social development, its multiple fields of application with emphasis on the health sector. It summarizes some of the essentials of this science (origin, characteristics, laws, etc.). Draws attention to the epistemological reasoning (impact vs. presence) of metrology. Describes the special importance of its application in the health sector. Warns about the consequences of non-observance of metrological postulates. Defends the idea that the insertion of the science of measurements in the process of social transformations, especially in the health sector, is essential, especially nowadays in such complex times from the epidemiological point of view.
