MEXICAN IDENTITY INVADED AND DISPOSSESSED

The Mexican identity forged in a glorious past, violated, firstly, by an invasion of mostly Spanish-speaking Europeans and, secondly, by another English-speaking invasion that not only committed the same atrocities as their predecessors, but also had the audacity to turn permanent occupation into dispossession, is the painful historical route we will have to travel in our examination of Mexicanness.
