Microeconomics

This textbook introduces students to advanced microeconomic theory and policy that focuses on the insight behind mathematical assumptions, providing gradual examples that show how to apply theoretical models. The textbook considers standard topics related to fundamental concepts of microeconomics, the theory of consumer behaviour, the theory of the firm, general equilibrium and social welfare; but the book's theoretical and empirical-oriented approach offers students a channel to more technical topics. The book is for undergraduates as well as Masters students in economics, finance, and public policy.Case studies found at the end of each part of the book contribute to the existing knowledge by analysing microeconomics topical issues in Africa using statistical investigations of an original data source from fieldworks.Practice Exercises for microeconomic theory and answers found at the end of each chapter include basic mathematical models which assist students to improve both their theoretical and empirical research skills in advanced microeconomic theory and policy.
