Microfinance in North East India is a comprehensive reference book based on empirical research. The present volume aims to appraise the microfinance programme in the region with special reference to Assam and Meghalaya and to examine the socio-economic impact of microfinance with specific reference to SHG members. Apart from providing a theoretical framework of microfinance, the book covers extensively the pace of growth and development of microfinance in India with special reference to the north east India. A region wise comparative analysis on outreach of microfinance is also presented in the book. The volume reveals the findings of an empirical study conducted in five districts covering Assam and Meghalaya which focuses on impact of microfinance on income, employment, consumption, asset holding, living standard, access to facilities and social empowerment.
