This book compiles with the microwave-assisted synthesis, characterization and in vitro antimicrobial evaluation of 2,4,6-trisubstituted pyridine derivatives catalyzed by ceric ammonium nitrate (CAN), also the effect of halogen substitution on antimicrobial activities. This synthetic study involves one pot cyclo-condensation reaction of 3-substituted-1H-pyrazole-4-carbaldehyde 1a-d and various substituted acetophenone 7a-d under microwave irradiation catalyzed by ceric ammonium nitrate (CAN) to gives 2,4,6-trisubstituted pyridine derivatives 8a-p. So, it is worthy to narrate brief introduction regarding CAN and synthetic and biological consequence of the 2,4,6-trisubstituted pyridine (polysubstituted pyridine) derivatives.
