Mites of Medicinal and Aromatic Plants of Eastern Himalaya

Medicinal and aromatic plants have immense importance not only for therapeutic purpose but also for preparing nutraceuticals,toiletries,flavoring -dyeing agents ,phytopesticides etc. In view of their importance, the global demands of medicinal plants have increased substantially.To meet that demand,these plants are being cultivated now.Unfortunately,the cultivation has invited serious pest problems in medicinal plants causing significant economic loss along with reducing the active ingredients of the plants making those unsuitable for use and also make those unmarketable.Among the pests,the mites are now becoming increasingly important.Nothing is known about diversity of mites from Eastern Himalayan area.This book deals with diversity, bio-ecology and management with green pesticides and entomo-pathogenic fungi.Apart from reporting 105 species of mites, life cycle of two species,relationship of mites with leaf morphological characters,changes in biochemical components due to mite feeding and management with bio-pesticides have been dealt with in this book.Needless to mention ,this book is the first of its kind from Eastern Himalayan Region.
