High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles! The Mitsubishi Colt 1000 is a passenger car produced by Shin Mitsubishi Heavy-Industries, Ltd, one of the companies which would become Mitsubishi Motors. Available first as a four-door sedan, and later as a two-door fastback and wagon, it was powered by a 977 cc engine producing 55 PS (40 kW), and was introduced in 1963. In motorsport, Colt 1000-based touring cars took a clean sweep of the podium in their class at the 1964 Japanese Grand Prix, before it became Mitsubishi's first ever rally car. The company which would go on to score multiple wins at the World Rally Championship and Dakar Rally began with class victories, and fourth and third place overall, in the 1967 and 1968 Southern Cross Rallies in Australia with a 1000F fastback.
