Mixed Dentition Cleft Orthodontics

Patients with cleft lip and/or palate face a huge number of problems. These patients frequently present with impaired functions and poor facial appearance. The treatment of these patients is organized at an aesthetically and functionally satisfactory level that will improve personal satisfaction for both the patients and their families. Successful management of cleft requires a multidisciplinary approach. The treatment of patients with CLP is not easy for both the orthodontist and the multidisciplinary group. Notwithstanding, good outcomes in regards to functional occlusion, dental aesthetics, and facial aesthetics can be accomplished with a well-established and treatment plan. Similarly, as with all orthodontic treatment, long term follow-up is important to keep up the outcomes.
