Introduction: the aging of the population is a reality that can be translated into an increase in the prevalence of certain chronic diseases and with it an increase in health spending and a decrease in the quality of life of those affected and their families. Current tools such as mobile applications, deploy a field of possibilities to optimize self-management and self-care in the elderly.Objective: to review the scientific production on the use of mobile applications in the elderly population for the management of the most prevalent pathologies in older adults.Methodology: systematic narrative review. Application of search strategy: "mobile app" AND "aging" in databases: Pub-Med, Scopus and Cochrane. Studies within the last 5 years (from 2016 to 2021). Population over 65 years old.Conclusions: health apps can be an important source for the improvement of self-care and the management of the health process for older adults, in relation to the most prevalent diseases in old age.Keywords: E-Helath, mobile applications, aging, technologies.
