Modeling Rail Demand in Tunisia: The VECM Approach

Rail transport is an essential pillar of a country's economic and social development. By facilitating the movement of goods and people, it contributes to economic growth, improves quality of life and reduces the negative externalities of road transport, such as congestion and pollution. However, in Tunisia, the rail sector faces many challenges, including demand below potential, aging infrastructure and increased competition from other modes of transport.This book offers an in-depth analysis of rail transport demand in Tunisia, based on an econometric and historical approach. It aims to understand the reasons for the under-utilization of the Tunisian rail network, identify the determinants of demand and explore the prospects for improving and modernizing the sector.
