This book has been designed to give electrical engineering students and research engineers a better appreciation of the role played by Power Electronic converters. An understanding of advanced power electronic converters along with their pulse width modulation techniques, which will increase your knowledge level. The book is designed to provide an excellent understanding on both convetional AC /DC rectifiers and modern Z-Source rectifiers. The book starts at a basic level, to ensure that you have a solid grounding in the fundamental concepts and also to refresh the more experienced readers in the essentials. The book then moves onto more detailed analysis of three phase Z source rectifiers. It is most definitely not an advanced treatment of the topic and it is hoped the expert will forgive the simplifications that have been made to the material in order to get the concepts across in a practical useful manner. The book features an introduction covering the need for three phase AC / DC rectifiers types, models, pulse width modulation followed by simple mathematical modeling of rectifiers with controller design and practical implications.

Mr Karunakar has completed his Master of Science in Electrical Power Engineering from Nanyang technological University, Singapore in 2006.He has authored several IEEE papers and presented research papers in various international conferences. Mr Kancheti is now working in Siemens Energy Pte Ltd, Singapore as Senior Electrical Engineer.
