Models in the System of Strategic Decisions in the USSR

The publication is a historical sketch of the creation and practical use in the 1970s of the mathematical model of a strategic operation on the continental theater of war (CTW). An analysis of the processes of making military-strategic decisions in the USSR and the place of mathematical models in these processes is given. Systemic methodological principles for modeling large-scale troop operations are outlined. A model of a strategic operation (MSO) on the continental theater of war is described. The experience of practical application of the model for solving various problems is described. The book is intended for a wide range of readers interested in problems of mathematical modeling in the military field and the problems of creating systems for supporting strategic decisions.
