Modularity in Indian Automotive Industry

The concept of modularity can be used as a strategic option for increasing product variety without much affecting the cost. Automobiles have hundreds of parts which can be combined into sub-assemblies that serve as functional modules. These modules can be combined and re-combined to produce different variants and / or models of any vehicle. This book is an adaptation of a post graduate dissertation work which illustrates the effect of adopting modularity in new product design of automobiles in India.
