Molecular Epidemiology

Giardiasis is an important disease in human and animal health. The enteropathogen responsible for the disease is the flagellated protozoan Giardia duodenalis, which causes diarrhea and nutritional deficiencies. This book presents the genotypic distribution of this cosmopolitan parasite and demonstrates molecular methods for its detection. The genotyping processes range from parasite presence, extraction of genetic material and molecular diagnosis.
