Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) was developed in 1999, but similar therapy named Morita Therapy had been developed in 1920 by Shoma Morita in Japan. Morita Therapy is effective for Anxiety Disorders and Chronic Depression. It was developed mainly for in-patient treatment, but out-patient Morita therapy has become mainstream in recent years. Trabalhou na Universidade de Medicina de Jikei (Centro de Terapia Morita), Hospital Shonan, Centro Nacional de Saúde e Desenvolvimento Infantil. Actualmente trabalha em Psiquiatria de Desenvolvimento, Centro de Habilitação Infantil de Yokohama, na zona norte.
