Motivation for Terrorism in J&K, India: A Study

This book is dedicated to the brave soldiers of the Indian Army , who battle the terrorist on a day to day basis against all odds. Their sacrifices inspite of the no apparent gains except the love for their nation is always so inspiring and deserve mention in every forum. The odds are always against the soldiers because the terrorist have the benefit of choosing the point of incursion and the soldiers have to be perennially attentive and can never rest. The battle ground is confusing as there is no clear cut definition of the enemy and terrorist come out of ordinary people. The book is very apt for it dwells in the minds of these ordinary people. Why do they back the terrorist or some of them go on to become one ? Terrorism is always more a function of the socio economic environment prevalent, rather than fundamental reasons like Religion.

Major General Nitin Gadkari, served in the Indian Army for 37 years. He saw the state of J&K very closely having served in the state for four tenures. He has studied the insurgency in J&K at close quarters and made use of his vast experience in writing this book. The author is an academician and has written extensively on military matters.
