Multimedia Language Labs for Learner Motivation

The purpose of this book is to assess the significance of the language lab as an effective instructional tool. It starts with the importance of learner motivation, goes on to trace the beginnings of the language lab, reasons for its failure and the revival with a reorientation in the form of multimedia language labs. It further elaborates on how multimedia language labs effectively motivate the second language learners to learn English Language in a non-threatening manner. Multimedia technology in this situation is a patient non-threatening tutor for basic skills acquisition, offering infinite opportunity to repeat problems until process or content is mastered. The prime objective of the study is to assess the significance of the language lab as an effective teaching tool for motivating the students to take English language learning seriously.
