As a procrastinating university student, I find myself caught between waiting and wandering. I don't quite believe in anything, yet I can't let go of the faint hope that something might still sway me. Neither my own path nor my own name has ever felt particularly original. Both my given names have been passed down from family who came before me. My surname is a thread that binds me to a lineage that I both recognise and resist. Even my pen name, chosen for writing, is too similar to that of someone I love and respect dearly. It's as if originality slips away the moment I try to reach for it. This uncertainty about myself, my future and whether difference is even possible bleeds into my work. In my writing, I seek not answers, but echoes of what it means to belong, to be chosen, and to be human when everything feels predetermined.
