They are also commonly known as "The Moks" or the "Twin Islands". The islets are located a short distance off Lanikai, a neighborhood of Kailua, Hawai?i and are often photographed. The larger island is Moku Nui and the smaller, Moku Iki. They are State bird sanctuaries and access is regulated by law. The two islands are very popular to local seafaring persons who have access to a motorboat or kayak, one of the islands contains a "canyon" and a black sand beach. Oahu (pronounced /o????hu?/ in English) or O?ahu (pronounced [o???hu] in Hawaiian), known as "The Gathering Place", is the third largest of the Hawaiian Islands and most populous of the islands in the State of Hawai?i. The state capital Honolulu is located on the southeast coast.
