Nanotechnology and Agriculture

Agriculture is backbone of developing countries. It play important role in increasing economic of a country. Agriculture sector is facing many challenges like use of chemical fertilizers and as a result of that untargeted lives get affected. Unutilized chemicals get percolated in water bodies and affect the aquatic bodies. This book described the applications of nanotechnology in agriculture. How we increase the productivity of crops by the use of nanotechnology in the field of agriculture. In nanotechnology nanoparticles are used in different ways as herbicides to kill the weeds, as pesticides to kill the pest, as biofertilizers to increase the crop yield .Uses of nanotechnology in irrigation water filtration for the removal of harmful substances from the water. This book discussed about the various plant responses to nanoparticles. Such as starting from physiological plant response to oxide nanoparticle, metal nanoparticle and carbon material and ends on proteomic change in response to nanoparticle.How different plant response differently i.e.; positive or negative to different nanoparticles.

Dr.Naveed Iqbal is Assistant Professor at PMAS ARID AGRICULTURE UNIVERSITY,RAWALPINDI. His research interest includes Plant nanobiotechnology, TRANSGENIC CROP PRODUCTION and PHYTOCHEMICAL ANALYSIS OF MEDICINAL PLANTS. Hafsa Abbas, Maria Zahra, Iram Aslam, Ayesha Jameel Abbasi, Muhammad Ali Zafar, Tanawish Sajjad, Saba Iqbal are co-authors with him.
