Nanotechnology in Periodontology
Details
Nanotechnology is a promising technology that is playing an increasingly important role in the diagnostics, prognostics, prediction, and management of various treatments. Its application in dental science is a novel proposition. The advancement of nanotechnology in dental science has brought tremendous progress in periodontal disease therapy. The technology offers significant promise in the disease's early diagnosis even at the molecular and cellular level, thereby reducing the waiting time for results. The advantages of nanotechnology would enhance the effectiveness of the already available technology. Its science and applications are constantly evolving. This comes with great responsibility to ensure the safety, efficiency, and applicability of such new technologies. Their level of effectiveness, as shown in the literature, diverges, being more effective than some materials and less effective than others.Thereby, all about this novel technology is incorporated in a nutshell for the benefit of all.
