The episodes of the sixth season of the anime series Naruto: Shippuden are directed by Hayato Date and produced by Studio Pierrot and TV Tokyo. They are based on Part II of the Naruto manga series by Masashi Kishimoto. The sixth season began airing on June 11, 2009 on TV Tokyo in Japan, and finished airing January 14, 2010. They are centered around Sasuke Uchiha who after killing his teacher Orochimaru, forms his team known as "Hebi", in order to find and kill his older brother, Itachi Uchiha, in revenge for the Uchiha clan''s destruction. It also features two arcs focusing on Kakashi Hatake and Jiraiya''s backstories. The episodes are directed by Hayato Date and produced by Studio Pierrot and TV Tokyo. The season is referred to by its DVDs as the chapter of Master''s Prophecy and Vengeance. On January 2, 2009 Viz Media and Crunchyroll began providing subtitled Naruto: Shippuden episodes. The English dub of this season has yet to air in Disney XD. This season uses five musical themes: two opening themes and three ending themes.
