NASA reentry prototypes were a series of atmosphere reentry prototypes built by NASA and experimented in a series of top secret projects between the 1940s and 1960s. These prototypes were capable of self propulsion and guided landings. They were deployed by a series of high altitude balloons of the United States Air Force from an altitude of 170,000 feet. The NASA Space Settlement Contest is an annual design competition for 6-12th grade students sponsored by the NASA Ames Research Center and the NSS (National Space Society).
