National Resources Mobilization Act is a Canadian government statute which enabled conscription in Canada during World War II. The bill, passed by Parliament on June 21, 1940, permitted conscripts to be used for home defence only and not to be deployed overseas but was modified in August 1942 to permit the government to send conscripts overseas via an order in council after a plebiscite in April 1942. In 1944, the government passed an order in council sending some conscripts overseas. This precipitated the Conscription Crisis of 1944 and resulted in several Quebec Liberal MPs leaving the party in protest.
