National Stadium is a multi-purpose stadium in Avarua, Cook Islands. It is currently used mostly for rugby and football matches. The stadium holds 3,000 people and was built in 2002. The Stadium is managed by the National Stadium Trust Board made up of individuals from CISNOC, the Private Sector and Government. The Stadium Trust Board employs a full time manager, Mr Rae Dyer. Multi-purpose stadiums are a type of stadium designed in such a way as to be easily used by multiple sports. While any stadium could potentially host more than one sport, this concept usually refers to a specific design philosophy that stresses multi-functionality over specificity.
