NATO and the South Caucasus
Details
NATO and the South Caucasus The book evaluates the past and present policies of the South Caucasus-NATO and NATO-South Caucasus relations (covering the period between 1990s and 2004). The work attempts to provide an explanation to Georgia's and Azerbaijan's active cooperation with NATO analyzing whether that cooperation has been driven by a wider policy orientation (e.g. European integration) or whether conflict resolution through NATO or member states' support had been the main impetus. The reasons of Armenia's more cautious relations with NATO are discussed too. NATO and member states' approaches an visions towards the region are of specific interest. The alliance formation theories are applied throughout the analysis. The analysis has relevance to decision and opinion makers in making policies towards the South Caucasus states separately or to the region generally.
