Natural Disaster Challenges for Pakistan
Details
Pakistan is one of the countries that remain highly prone to a range of natural disaster challenges including avalanches, cyclones/storms, droughts, earthquakes, epidemics, floods, glacial lake outbursts, landslides, pest attacks, river erosion and tsunami. Off late, terrorism, sectarian violence and internal conflicts have further fuelled such challenges. Under such conditions a developing country like Pakistan is seriously affected even with a disaster of lower magnitude necessitating development of a comprehensive frame work for disasters management. In view of above critically examine existing system for managing disaster challenges to Pakistan with a view to suggest measures for comprehensive response at national level focusing on aspects of coordination, capacity building and legislation.
