Details

Sustainable utilization and management of Kenya s natural resources is crucial to its socio-economic development. The land, water, animals, plants, and their products must be used in such a way as to meet the needs of the present generations without compromising those of the future ones. Achieving this objective is exceedingly important especially due to the problem of an ever-shrinking natural resource base. This work seeks to analyze the Kenyan legal and institutional framework for Community Based Natural Resource Management, with special reference to land, forestry, water and wildlife, these being the natural resources that are fundamental to the survival of most communities and hence, commonly used and managed by them.
