Nature Of Dance: a study of omenimo
Details
Dance has closely been associated with man in his day-to-day activities, yet the performers of dance art are treated with disdain. This is because most people do not understand the nature of dance and how it signifies. Therefore, the objective of this book is to understand the Omemimo dance in relation to its modes of meaning generation. The nature of dance and its signifying practices imply the meaning producing behaviours people engage in following particular conventions or rules. This book explores some dances in Omenimo repertoire and their modes of meaning generation. Through form and content in Uri-Agha and Nkwa-Agu , the author clarifies the literal and non-literal mode of dance communication.
