NATURE TOURISM AND PROTECTED AREA MANAGEMENT IN ETHIOPIA

Nature tourism has become an important economic activity in natural areas around the world. It provides opportunities for visitors to experience powerful manifestations of nature and culture, and to learn about the importance of biodiversity conservation and local cultures. At the same time, it generates income for conservation and economic benefits for indigenous communities living in rural and remote areas. Ethiopia is a country for outdoor- oriented people where many open-air activities can be enjoyed. Emerging professions in nature tourism and habitat protection, growing number of courses in natural resource management and increasing recognition of nature tourism in Ethiopia calls for an appropriate reference that should enable foresters, professionals and nature lovers to gain an in-depth understanding of the subject as well as help those in the profession by improving their existing knowledge and expertise.
