It was planned to begin in June 2002 but actually started July 11, 2002. The creation followed a two-year review. NETWARCOM is the authority whose job is coordinating all US Navy information technology, information operations, and space requirements and operations. NETWARCOM coordinates staff needed to support one naval network and to support that network''s operation.
