Netroots Nation is a political convention for American progressive political activists, originally organized by readers and writers of Daily Kos, a liberal political blog. It was previously called YearlyKos. The 2009 Netroots Nation conference was held at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania from August 13-16 and featured former President Bill Clinton and former DNC Chairman and Vermont governor Howard Dean among others. Netroots Nation amplifies progressive voices by providing an online and in-person campus for exchanging ideas and learning how to be more effective in using technology to influence the public debate. Through its annual convention and a series of regional salons held throughout the year, they strengthen their community, inspire action and serve as an incubator for ideas that challenge the status quo and ultimately affect change in the public sphere.
