Neuropharmacological Profiles of Lawsonia Innermis

The ethanomedical information about the flower of Lawsonia innermis shows the sedative properties.The volatile oil present in the plant may be attributed the neurological related activity. This study was undertaken to investigate the anti-anxiety, anti depressant, sedative and hypnotics,muscle relaxant and anti convulsant activity of extract of flower of Lawsonia Innermis in experimental animal model. The psychoactive potentiation of Lawsonia innermis because of the presence of terpenoids present in the volatile oil extract of the flower. This supported by various terpenoids shows the similar effect in the previous experimental studies. In further studies will be on the separation of active constituents, the extraction and through pharmacological mechanistic approach definitely paving the way to clinical applications.
