New old physics

The author's ideas on the structure and role of the ether and on the device of the hypothetical model of the electron in the form of a mechanical elastic catapult in the medium of the ether are outlined. Pursuit of these ideas leads to new unexpected discoveries. The basic known properties of the real electron and properties of the hypothetical electron-catapult model were compared and a qualitative agreement of one direction of processes occurring in both cases was found, which shows the promise of this model. At the same time, these ideas reveal the excessive involvement of metaphysical ideas in the modern official science of nature, which the author, expressing his views, carefully avoids in the rest, outline part of the description of nature.
