This book is borne out of the search for solutions to socio-economic and political quagmire in Africa. with the defunct of Organization of African Unity, the African Union was born and it gave rise to an integrated African Economic blueprint christened New Partnership for Africa's Development (NEPAD) which is intended to salvage the continent from underdevelopment. This book therefore carried out an appraisal of NEPAD on one of the key areas of its mandate: Poverty Alleviation though in Nigeria, it analysed excerpts from some other countries on the continent. It observed that structural inadequacies and unwarranted attachment to the West for fund are snags to achieving NEPAD mandates and concluded that NEPAD has not impacted directly on poverty alleviation in Nigeria nay Africa because it is still engrossed in paper work that are yet to generate economic development.
