Political education and proper understanding of the history of a nation are sine qua non to nation building, national integration and unity, development and progress. They are also the sure compass and beacon light for any country's journey to successful nationhood. This book is an attempt to present the historical evolution, government and politics of Nigeria in a vivid light with all that encumber its development as a nation. It presents very lucidly the Nigerian national history, its politics and governance from the distant past to the present. Since the Nigerian state is an artificial creation of the British, the different parts wielded together can only make success of the "union" if they have an in-depth, and a better informed knowledge of their national history. This book is a succinct effort in that direction.
