Nigerian Foreign Policy in a Changing Operating Environment
Details
The book examines the character and effectiveness of Nigerian foreign policy in a changing world order. Viewed against the background of numerous and profound issues that have visited the conduct of the country's foreign policy in recent times, there is a perspective that believes that the delivery level of Nigerian foreign policy is not showing much promise and performance. Based on the issue areas considered in this book, the author shares the view that the nation's foreign policy towards the great powers as well as African nations has witnessed a reduction in the level of its relevance and the satisfaction it gives to the citizens and foreign friends of Nigeria. One major pathway contained in the paper therefore is the imperative of re-formulating the foreign policy to enhance its adequacy by reflecting the new dynamics in the global system. While this is going on, the urgent need to properly fund the policy must not be lost on the policy makers. This is the thrust of the book.
