Written for architects, cultural geographers, anthropologists and other related design and construction professionals, this book is a study in the vernacular environment and dwellings of migrant fishermen of the Ijo ethnic group in Nigeria. This work presents an exposition into the fusion of the tripartite concepts of culture, livelihood and mobility through architectural expression. It examines the planning process, spatial design principles, construction techniques, use of materials and the life cycle of the dwelling through narratives, photography and drawings.

Warebi Gabriel Brisibe is a lecturer at the Department of Architecture, Rivers State University of Science and Technology, Port-Harcourt, Nigeria. He is a registered architect and holds a PhD in Architecture from Newcastle University, UK. His research focuses on vernacular environments, architectural history and architecture of floating communities
