Non-pharmacological Behaviour Management. The first dental visit of a child is always full of anxiety for both parents and child. As the child's co-operation is necessary for rendering effective treatment, the first appointment is very important for establishing rapport and gaining the child's trust. Anxiety and fear remain the primary emotion of a child entering the dental office. Successful pediatric dentistry depends not only on the dentist's technical skill but also on his ability to acquire and maintain a child's cooperation. Thus it is necessary to manage dental anxiety in a child because of the vicious cycle that may arise from unmanaged cases. One of these is the deteriorating dental health that arises as a complication of anxiety. child. Moreover, it enhances the work quality and efficiency of the dental personnel. Thus behavior management plays an important role in providing dental care for children. Thus keeping in mind all these factors in this study is to compile available literature and review the same for complete knowledge of various behavior management techniques and their applications in modifying a child's behavior to achieve successful dental treatment.
