Details

This research work presents the finite element (FE)
modeling and dynamic response of Inflatable, thin,
highly flexible shell/membrane structures to blast
load, with application to collective protection
systems. Temper Tents have pressurized Collective
Protection System (CPS)(liner system), fitted to
frame structures, provide protection against
explosives and other harmful agents. These systems
are being tested for the force protection standards
against the explosions like air-blast.

A nonlinear finite element analysis of shell/membrane
structure is sought to computationally simulate the
response of Temper tents. ANSYS, a commercial finite
element software, is used here for this purpose.
Nonlinear static and transient analysis is performed
and dynamic response in terms of displacement history
and dynamic stresses is computed. Design
considerations are made based on the parametric
design study.
