NorthStar Center a Young Adult Therapeutic Transition Program, located in Bend, Oregon enrolls young adults ages 17 1/2 - 24 for substance abuse and addiction treatment. The therapeutic basis of the program is Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, a type of psychotherapy developed by Marsha M. Linehan and consisting of four parts: Mindfulness, Interpersonal Effectiveness, Emotion Regulation, Distress Tolerance. Additional therapies include Transtheoretical/Stages of Change theory, Motivational Interviewing and 12 Step programs AA and NA. Academic offerings include high school completion, college-prep and college-level courses. NorthStar is owned and operated by Aspen Education Group. NorthStar is mentioned alongside three other Central Oregon schools belonging to Aspen Education. Along with Passages to Recovery another Aspen program, NorthStar was featured on the July 30, 2006, episode of A&E Television Network's documentary series "Intervention"
