Norway Mediation in Sri Lanka
Details
This book sets out to explore the factors that influenced the dynamics of mediation in the Sri Lankan conflict, with particular reference to the role of mediators from Norway. The peace process of Sri Lankan conflict which can be analysed and recognised as an 'Identity Conflict' of the Tamil speaking community of Sri Lanka, was intervened and facilitated by number of international actors such as Government of India, United Nations, Government of Norway, etc. After intervention and failure of Government of India on the Sri Lankan peace process, in the last 10-year period of 30-year war, the Norwegian mediation has taken place with the invitation of both the parties of conflict. The efforts made during that period couldn't bring the peace to the conflict but the parties to the negotiation table.
