Novel inoculant for paddy and their effect under stress

The use of chemicals in agriculture is inevitable to meet the growing demand for food in the world. There is a genuine interest in developing bacterial products that are reliable and that can act as complements to chemicals already in the market. Two bacterial isolates having good nitrogen fixation ability has been isolated from the rhizosphere of paddy root from the local paddy field. The effect of these two bacteria has studied alone and in combinations on plant growth under biotic and abiotic stresses. The effect has been analyzed for its growth promotion ability and induction of defense-related enzymes. These isolates also induced accumulation of osmoprotactant and enhance the production of oxidative enzymes under salinity. The isolates also cause differential induction of stress-related gene like RAB 18 through RNA Profiling and RNA Dot-Blot assay. On the basis of all above results, it indicates that the eco-friendly PGPR can serve as a simple and cheap tool for combating infection in crops as well as for increased productivity by its growth promoting ability.
