Novel methods for the fusion of pyridine ring in steroidal moiety

Pyridine, a heterocyclic ring system is the constituent of variety of natural products as well as numbers of pharmaceutically important synthetic molecules. Thus, numbers of efforts are being made to synthesis pyridine core. This book highlights the different methodologies involved in the construction of steroidal pyridine derivatives which include reactions such as Vilsmeier reaction, Michael addition, [4+2] cycloaddition reaction etc.

Pallabi Saikia has received her M.Sc. degree from Gauhati University in Organic Chemistry in 2009. She obtained her Ph.D. degree from Dibrugarh University (CSIR-NEIST, Jorhat, India) in Organic Chemistry in 2015. She has been working as an Assistant Professor at Department of Chemistry, School of Basic Science, Assam Kaziranga University, Assam.
