Details

Increased miR-21 levels in breast tissues were significantly correlated with higher tumor grade, increased tumor size. Higher levels of miR-21 in breast tissues were observed in patients with poor prognosis. Significant correlation between chromosome 17 copy number and miR-21 expression level in breast cancer tissues were observed. Chromosome 17 aneusomy was observed in all breast cancer patients. Chromosome 17 aneusomy analysis gave more useful information than analysis by copy number variation only. miR-21 exhibited up-regulation in about 92% of breast cancer tissues compared to normal adjacent tissues of breast cancer patients.
