I remember the first reaction I had from my friends when I told them that I am venturing into nuclear Engineering. Practically all of them said, "Are you going to manufacture bombs now"? Another classic response I received was "why do you want to study something this dangerous"? At that moment, I knew so many people knew little or nothing about nuclear energy and its application in our lives. The mention of Nuclear sends chills to a number of people mainly from the negative perception of history.
