Nutrition and Health Status of Tribal Children

In large areas of the world today, malnutrition is one of the principal public problems that affect young children. The quality of human resources of any country is largely determined by the quality of its child development for which foundation is laid during early childhood. Food habits are influenced by social and cultural factors but the consequences of food habits are biological. Health and nutrition form a major thrust area of investigation among the tribal population especially children. The present Book tries to highlight with proper evidence about certain major issues of Health and Nutritional status among five tribal group children of Mysore district, Karnataka state, India. The issues researched and presented in the book are Socio-Demographic and Living Conditions, Anthropometric measurements, Clinical Nutritional Deficiency, Prevalence of anemia, Prevalence of Morbidity pattern, Food Pattern and Eating Habits and Nutrient intake of different tribal group children of 6 to 10 years age group. This book merits essential readings for biological anthropologists, Nutritionists, researchers and other personnel including administrators, policy makers and implementers.
