Occupation is the season premiere of the third season of Battlestar Galactica, and follows the events of the webisodic short series Battlestar Galactica: The Resistance. "Occupation" aired on October 6, 2006 and was immediately followed by the second episode, "Precipice". The season premiere picks up roughly four months after season two with the Cylon occupation of New Caprica. The remaining ships of the fleet have successfully escaped but are cut off from the nearly forty thousand humans on New Caprica. Colonel Tigh has been captured by the Cylons, and Samuel Anders and Chief Petty Officer Tyrol attempt to lead a resistance against the Cylons.
