Occupational Stress

Stress is recognized as the number one killer today. The American Medical Association stated that, stress was the cause of 80-85 percent of all human illness and disease or at the very least, had a detrimental effect on our health. The prevalence of stress in the workplace is disturbing because of its relationship to an increased magnitude of organizational cost and individual dysfunction.It has been well documented that stress in the workplace can have a negative impact on the functioning of both organizations and individuals. Occupational stress is one of the most important issues documented in the contemporary business world with respect to productivity, efficiency, labor relations, and compensation issues The purpose of this book is to analyse the causes of occupational stress and its impact on employee's performance on the job environment. This book looks at the components of occupational stress, analyzes the relationships between occupational stress and job performance as perceived by employees, and should be especially useful to professionals in all fields.
